NaNoWriMo Day 5

Maybe tomorrow I'll have a little more time.

NaNoWriMo Day 4

I had really wanted to make it all the way to 5,000 today, but it was an odd day. I woke up in the middle of the night and just *had* to type, but that left me rather tired for the rest of the day. I'm still writing in short-story style instead of stretching things out and using more dialog. I need to break out of this soon or I will run out of story way before I run out of words. I've managed to build a little anticipation, and the love interests should be meeting each other in the next scene!

I accidentally (because I wasn't paying proper attention to the label) splurged a little and bought pork chops the other day, and they were quite a treat for supper tonight. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for them in the circulars so I can get them on purpose once a month or something when the price goes down a bit.

Looking forward to seeing the internet give this author the justice she deserves.

NaNoWriMo Day 3

Day 2: intentionally left blank
Day 3 (today/total so far): 1315/3043

A little under the goal for today, but made some serious headway in character relationships. A lot of this exposition will eventually go away, but for now it's good to have the clear pictures in my head. I could have written more, but I started getting sleepy. Well, that's more for tomorrow!

NaNoWriMo Day 1

Words (today/total/goal): 1728/1728/50,000

Today, I was still rather distracted with trying to clear off the beta reading, but I'm quite satisfied with my start. I also made myself an icon featuring the couple that inspired one of the stories I'll be working on this month. Instead of working on one novel, I'll be doing something that better suits my attention span: a collection of fantasy stories. Some are original, some fanfic, but they all involve a fantasy setting somehow, even if it is just that the characters play D&D.

Posi-tober 31

After Hubby's crummy day yesterday, I wanted to pack him a special lunch. He has said that the gang at work is always envious when he gets Brussels Sprouts, so I baked chicken with BBQ sauce, then cooked the sprouts in the leftover tariyaki from my chicken. He woke up in time for us to actually sit down and eat together, and then he went off to work with his special lunch.

The official days of positivity have come to an end, and NaNoWriMo has begun. Since midnight, I've written 1080 words in my new Fantasy collection of orcs, giants, elves, and dwarves. We'll see how long I can keep it up.

Susania's Hallow's End Costume

She went as a Draenei... which she is, but I think the mask really sold it ;)

It's the Robe of the Dragon Slayer, in case anyone was wondering. I knew it was a good idea to keep one traditional Draenei outfit even though she always wears leather pants.

Posi-tober 30

Okay, so this is a little odd, but I'm so tickled about it. My WoW guild just had a Hallow's End party, and we did a costume contest. I won! That is, my hunter won one of the prizes, and it is a pretty pet :)

A thought about writing by hand vs typing

Because I love to experiment and compare data:

10-minute free-type: 400 words

10-minute free-write: 300 words
(plus, this took 6 minutes to type up)

In past years, I've taken notebooks with me to work and stuff when I won't have a lot of laptop time that day, but looking at it this way, I don't think I'm actually getting much out of it that way.

I don't know. I mean, the change of scenery was good, and my poor laptop is not in great shape at the moment. I don't want to discount the flashes of inspiration that might happen while I'm away from my computer, but on the other hand, my brain might appreciate the break...

Writing Buddies

Okay, I've officially logged in to NaNoWriMo and started adding buddies. I'm "writermerrin" there, so feel free to add me so I know to add you back if I haven't already.
